Forum:Feature Vote

First it was sockpuppets causing mayhem, but now it's the very system itself. The votes keep completely resetting or reverting back a day or so by them selves (that is without the help of users). This is odd and I for one call for a change in voting method. --
12:59, 17 Jumbly 2007 (UTC)- Yes.... I don't feel like giving 30 examples, but you know what we mean. Aha, but fortunately it was in my article's favor today! Probably not tomorrow.... So i call for a change!--|Fonchezzz| Quacking| 13:42, 17 Jumbly 2007 (UTC)
- It's a unique way of voting but unfortunately it's corruptable. I think the wiki is of the size that people would maybe cheat to make sure their article is featured. On top of this, the resetting thing you mention seems weird. I'd rather be able to see who's voted on articles to try and stamp out socking. Has anyone seen Uncyc's brand new voting system? It uses forum coding and I think it's cool. -- Hindleyak Converse • ?blog • Click here! 16:20, 17 Jumbly 2007 (UTC)
- Is there any way we could
outrightly steal, label it as are own, and sell it on to american tycoons for a handsome profitborrow this new voting system. Otherwise I was thinking of something like the voting system for the illogic pickle (so users would just have one vote as to what gets featured and not a vote for each article). -- 16:34, 17 Jumbly 2007 (UTC) - I'm with Hindle on this one. Uncyc's method is tried and true. --~~~~ 19:37, 17 Jumbly 2007 (UTC)
- Seeing as we already have a forum page that lists votes, changing the system to something like Uncyc's should be pretty simple. Just add a field and button for adding topics for candidates and set up a page-editing based poll template for the page that comes up. Polishing the system to Uncyc's level with nice display pages and such is a little bit more work though, but it can be done at any time once the basic structure is there. --The Divine Fluffalizer 20:53, 17 Jumbly 2007 (UTC)
- We could hire Mexican Spangs in order to get this done at half the price. --~~~~ 20:56, 17 Jumbly 2007 (UTC)
- I dunno how we'd do TDF's suggestion because my brain hurts but those Mexican Spangs sound tempting. Let's do this. -- Hindleyak Converse • ?blog • Click here! 11:08, 18 Jumbly 2007 (UTC)
- Oh wow! Change, that means we have a new thingy, and we could talk about, and have a sitenotice, and where pointy hats, and, and... (foams the mouth)--
- So when is action going to be taken? Somebody please think of the children!--
- I would get started on this but I don't really know what I'm doing with this forum stuff, I realised. Plus I don't think SP's been around for a while for me to bring it up with him. He's kind of been in charge of the forum since we moved from Proboards. -- Hindleyak Converse • ?blog • Click here! 09:54, 20 Jumbly 2007 (UTC)
- Oh, i forgot about this forum. hey guys, i think... i was gonna say something. Oh, why can't we put a small group of people together (like five)...who decide together what shall be featured. I dunno, maybe they can have a forum... and they have to frequent the website a lot, cause... we cant forget to discuss the article to be featured. This group of people need a fancy name too. like the werewolves, but even cooler!!!Ya... think of the children....ya?--|Fonchezzz| Quacking| 18:58, 20 Jumbly 2007 (UTC)
- So you're basically proposing we use Uncyc's system, except without the part where everyone gets a fair vote. --~~~~ 19:41, 20 Jumbly 2007 (UTC)
- hmm, a dictatorship huh, sounds good to me. I have been around, sitting there, waiting and waiting and waiting. Whistles.--Silent Penguin 12:49, 21 Jumbly 2007 (UTC)
- Yay, Sepenguin! So i think we should make a decision. This is pointless if we dont act quickly. And yes, it's kinda like a Dictatorship, but a bunch of people, instead of one Hitler man.--|Fonchezzz| Quacking| 15:47, 21 Jumbly 2007 (UTC)
- By the way, how often do articles get featured? Should we act quick... or just feature an article whenever the date is.... and then start working?--|Fonchezzz| Quacking| 15:07, 22 Jumbly 2007 (UTC)
- Let us act now upon this noble quest. May our deeds be forever remembered throughout history. We shall charge on our noble steads, ride-on hedge trimmer in my case, towards the fire breathing feature vote system. Having slain it, and shoved it's head on a spike forever to be seen by wary people on the mainpage as a symbol of hope, we shall sow the seed of a new, better system in which shall lead us towards the golden years. -- 15:40, 22 Jumbly 2007 (UTC)

The deed is done[edit source]
I've done as I suggested. Muhahahaha!
Somewhat clunky compared to Uncyc's system, but it can be improved and extended bit by bit. --The Divine Fluffalizer 08:24, 9 Ergust 2007 (UTC)
- I've now made a proper voting template replacing the plain page form. --The Divine Fluffalizer 07:57, 10 Ergust 2007 (UTC)
- And now the display page showing all vote tables has been made; it's shaping up. --The Divine Fluffalizer 10:02, 11 Ergust 2007 (UTC)
