Hi folks,

So, I've been off wikis for the most part since late last year. Including my own. Life and stuff, you know how it is.

Both my parents were diagnosed with cancer within a month of each other, and while my health was "fine" it wasn't good really. For the last 10 years I've been functioning on 3-5 hours sleep a night, eating too much junk, and gaining weight. Late last year I had to face that I was technically obese and really needed to change everything in order to have any kind of quality of life.

I don't know that I'm not 10 years away from my own cancer diagnosis, but I've lost 39 pounds, have a size 31 waist again (down from 37), and I can deadlift a Yugo. Well... maybe not that much. But I'm in fine shape for swimsuit season. Look for my Playgirl spread this July.

Anyway, I need help with ?media. I've had to make editing more restrictive and have baleeted a lot of spam, but there's still much cleanup to do. If you like deleting crap, reverting vandalism and banning spambots to hell, here's what to do:

  1. Leave me a note here.
  2. Wait for me to give you the keys.
  3. Check out the list of crap on NewPages
  4. Ban the offenders who made it.
  5. Open another tab in your browser and delete their entire contribution history with one swipe using the Nuke function.
  6. Keep the keys when you're done / Continue to show up for work for a few minutes daily.

My mom is still not out of the woods, but I'll try to make more of an effort to stay connected. ~ The Bard of Illogicopedia TinyQuill.gif 20:36, 7 Arche 2012 (UTC)

I made an account there and offered to help, but I don't think you ever gave me any powers. If you still need someone to help you out over there, I would be happy to give it a try. Mars Cadbury (talk) 08:48, 24 Arche 2012 (UTC)
Hey Bard! I note it's been a while since you posted this, so I hope things are going well with you and your family. Real world stuff should always take precedence, and these things shouldn't be rushed so, you know, take as much time as you need.
I would offer to help out with Illogicomedia (in fact it's been on my list of to-do things for a while now) but I wouldn't be around much for the foreseeable future, unfortunately. The last month or so has been really hectic so Illogicopedia has taken a back seat, like the backest of seats you could find. See that last row of seats at the back of the cinema? Behind them. Behind the projector room. Yep, that wooden stool in the strip bar across the road - that's where Illogicopedia is seated right now, and I don't think it's gonna move until it runs out of cash. :P
But seriously, I'd be more than happy to help out when I 'return'. :) -- Hindleyak  Converse?blogClick here! 11:35, 25 Arche 2012 (UTC)
Perhaps we should consider a merger of the projects - having the one in a separate wiki with a separate userbase with few to no shared rights not only makes watching it more difficult, but maintaining it near impossible, as those of us who can clean up this one cannot necessarily do so there. Not only that, but why would they be inclined to do so if they have to go out of their way for it, and when nothing happens there? ~ Pointy.png 21:02, 25 Arche 2012

Question[edit source]

Actually, this is something I'd been wondering about before, but the current state of that project brings it back into prominence - do we, as a community, want an Illogicomedia? What is it supposed to do, and is it doing that? And provided a purpose, how, still, would we be supposed to maintain something like that at all, given how few of us there are even on this one? Where was the initial community input on the matter; did it address these concerns? ~ Pointy.png 21:48, 25 Arche 2012

I think part of the point of having an Illogicomedia Foundation is that we're kind of showing the flag, that we're a wiki but we're not just a wiki. We could make all forms of illogicomedia and are not tied down to the one medium of making just the one wiki site. That's my rationale for the Illogicomedia Foundation as a concept. Also, it makes fun of the Wikimedia Foundation which is a good thing, just for the lulz alone.
Also, having an IllogicMeta / Media as a separate web site could be useful as a backup place to regroup if / when Roberto attacks, if only everybody knew about it and the various inherent problems in The Bard's attempt at implementing this idea could be resolved. --Nerd42 (talk) 19:20, 17 Arply 2012 (UTC)
So... I'm back. Kinda. I appreciated the admin support from Mars Cadbury (and the offer from H.), but the onslaught of spambots was too much so I shuttered the wiki. It still exists in working form, but mostly just to pull data from now.
Agreed, Illogicomedia is arguably useless. Even when it was up and this website was down, no-one came there to actually edit. That also factored into my decision to switch from wiki to CMS.
As Nerd42 observes, it's basically flag waving. It doesn't cost me much to do, and it will continue to exist whether the community wants it (and wants to use it) or not. Enjoy! Or not. No pressure.
My health is great, mom's doing okay for now, all is well. Thanks youse guys. =) ~ The Bard of Illogicopedia TinyQuill.gif 14:36, 1 Ergust 2012 (UTC)
Look, um, as far as we're concerned, what you're doing is basically trademark infringement if regular Illogicopedia admins can't get admin accounts there and work together with the rest of the ?pedia projects. --Nerd42 (talk) 16:05, 2 Ergust 2012 (UTC)
I’m sorry I didn’t help out more. I would ban and block over 100 people and the very next I would have another 100 people to ban and block. It was kind of disheartening. Mars Cadbury (talk) 08:04, 8 Ergust 2012 (UTC)
I can remember a time when Illogicopedia was like that. Some three months ago :P -- Hindleyak  Converse?blogClick here! 11:38, 8 Ergust 2012 (UTC)

The Illusion of Gruntled[edit source]
